Gary The Friendly Goose - January 19, 2007

© (2007) photos by Vicki Polin

The strangest thing happened the other day when I stopped at a local pond to take some photos. As soon as I got out of my car I was greeted by the following goose. He followed me around every where I went. The funny thing was that every time I would aim the camera at something besides him, he would honk at me. At one point I thought he wanted to see my camera so I extended my hand with the camera.

Swan Lake - January, 2007

I was driving down a road with a friend out somewhere I think in Hartford County, MD. We came upon a small lake with two swans swimming. The photo's didn't come out that clear, yet I still like them.

Sparks and the NCR Trail - January, 2007

There's this wonderful hiking, biking, jogging trail just outside of Baltimore known as the NCR Trail. The following photos are right near the Sparks entrance. The trail on what was once the old North Central Railroad tracks. It goes from just north of Baltimore, MA to York, PA.

Don't forget to click on each photograph to make them larger.

I had a few minutes today to get away. Drove out Park Heights Rd. to where ended, out to Tufton Rd. and beyond. The sun kept playing hide and seek.

Horses of Baltimore County - January 14, 2007

© (2007) photo's by Vicki Polin

It was a very warm Sunday afternoon. Very difficult to believe it was January 14th. The grass is getting pretty green. There's even buds on the trees. One would think it was early spring instead of the middle of winter.

Strange Duck - January, 2007

© (2007) photo by Vicki Polin

I was at the pond and saw this duck. I was trying to figure out if it was injured or not. Couldn't tell if the straw was under its wings or not? The duck was acting as if everything was fine. Just a strange picture I guess.

The second photo is at a local pond. The picture came out a bit more pink then what I saw.

The Pond - December 26, 2006

© (2006) Vicki Polin
It started off to be a dark and dreary day to be running on errands. All of a sudden I noticed the sun coming out, breaking through the clouds in the sky.

I was not far from the pond on Park Heights Ave. near Old Court Road in Pikesville, MD. I decided to go in. This is what I saw. A far different scene then the winters of Chicago.

Assateague Island - Hanukkah, 2006

This has been an unbelieveably warm winter. It was during the week of Hanukkah that a friend and I decided to take a ride to Assateague Island, which is located on the eastern shore of Maryland. It's about a three hour drive from Baltimore.

Assateague is a very interesting place.
The island is famous for its "Chincoteague Ponies". No one knows for sure how or when the ponies first arrived on the island, a popular legend tells of ponies that escaped a shipwrecked Spanish galleon and swam ashore.

The island is now both a state and national park. When entering the park there's signs all over requesting that you not touch the horses or other wildlife. While we were there a group of ponies came up to our car, trying to nudge his way in through the window.

I was running around all day. Just got home and looked up at the sky. It's the time of day that the Ravens were flying around. If you look closely you can even see the moon.

Horse Sanctuary - November, 2006

A friend and I were roaming around on rural roads in southern Pennsylvania. When we came across a sanctuary for abused and neglected horses. I think this was around Glen Rock, PA.
We got out of our car to take some photographs and they automatically came running towards us.

© 2006 Vicki Polin

It was a sunny Sunday afternoon right before Thanksgiving. A photography friend and I went out to see what we could find. We were driving down a rural country road when I spotted this turkey farm. I've never been on one before. The photo was taken somewhere in northern Maryland.
